For those who are asking.

I have had several people ask me about Reiki. This really is off topic for my blog, but I thought it was important enought to write about. Just recently I went to New York to obtain my Reiki Master certificate so I can teach Reiki. Below is a good description of what Reiki is.

Reiki- The Complimentary Healing Energy

What is Reiki? Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing, according to “Reiki The Healing Touch” by William Rand.

Reiki puts our bodies in a relaxed state so we can heal faster. If you are tense and worried this wears down the immune system and the body takes longer to recover. Just recently Reiki has been coming to for front as an alternative or complimentary medicine. Dr. Mehemt Oz has written articles and books on energy healing with his patients. Reiki New magazine just published an article “Reiki in the operating room with Dr Oz”. Its content was about a patient that chose him specifically because of his beliefs on energy healing. The article goes on to say how the patient healed much quicker because of her Reiki treatment in the operating room. The article later talks about how Dr. Oz’s wife has became a Reiki Master.

In a typical Reiki session the patient lays down in a comfortable position, if possible as the Practioner treats up to 15 positions on the body. These positions are related to the chakras and meridian lines within the body. Sometimes the Practioner will hold their hands a few inches from the body or lay hands directly on. The energy produces a warm feeling that causes the body to relax. The Practioner might also ask the client to quiet their mind and breathe deeply to help stop racing thoughts in the brain. The effect of the treatment leaves the client relaxed and at peace.

As a Practioner myself, Reiki has improved my life just practicing the Reiki principles, meditating, and self treatments. If you are interested in learning more about Reiki, look for a Reiki share in your area. At a share people come together to talk and practice this wonderful healing energy.
